Welcome to the inaugural edition of CSUN’s Tax Development Journal (TDJ). After over a year of work, we are excited to launch the online version of TDJ! Part of the TDJ’s mission is to provide relevant and timely tax information to practitioners in an easy to access and understandable manner. The TDJ is managed by current and former students of CSUN’s Master of Science in Taxation Program .
The Tax Development Journal sets a new standard in practitioner based tax scholarship as an innovative forum for intellectual discourse on emerging issues for tax practitioners and policy makers. This student run journal uniquely combines tax expertise with scholarly discourse to provide timely, insightful, and important contributions to scholarly discussion in a broad array of topical tax areas.
When Leslie Sobol, my co-managing editor, and I first thought about starting a tax journal, she requested that this be our final project for the MST program. We wanted to leave behind something that would help practitioners and would enhance the reputation of CSUN’s Accounting Program. We proposed the idea to the Program’s Director, Rafi Efrat, and the rest is history! I would like to personally thank Dr. Rafi Efrat (Accademic Advisor) and Sharon Fisk (Editor-and-Chief) for the vision and assistance in starting the TDJ. There are several other people that were instrumental in starting the TDJ. Thank you for all of your help.
It has been a pleasure working with some of the top practitioners in the field while developing the TDJ. Developing this journal and working with the various editorial boards has helped me to establish relationships with leading tax professionals, as well as developed my tax technical skills. It is my sincere hope that the TDJ will continue to be successful for many more years and will become a leading source of tax information for practitioners.
Best Regards,
Robert L. Hymers III, CPA, M.S.T.
